Why You Should Join a Sorority

how to rush a sorority, sorority life, greek, freshman year, rush week, sorority recruitment

Hello Readers! My name is Suzy Sorority and this is my first factoid! I am a senior and ever since my freshman year I have been in a sorority. I went through recruitment, or "rushed" (we no longer call it "rush" or "rush week" or "rushing" so it is not confused with hazing), my freshman year. I was a scared freshman in a huge university and painfully shy and quiet. I left a big group of friends in high school and I was also very homesick.

Although I like my roommates and did well in class, I wanted to meet more people and do more things at college. Although I was hesitant, I dragged my roommate (who did not end up joining for other reasons) to a house and went to my first "party" (these are not like regular parties though. Think tea time with grandma rather than beer pong and frat guys). Now fast forward three years and here I sit at my room in the sorority house. I got a bid from that sorority and now me and my best friend, also a senior, live in the best room in the house and I have three years worth of pictures and memories from my sorority activities.

From spring break to break-ups, my sorority has been my guide through my college experience. This blog is not as much about convincing young women to "go greek" but more about the how-to advice of doing your best through recruitment. But I will tell you what you won't hear from your recruitment counselors! Plus, along the way I will share some inside stories about my life in sorority.
